The mistake I see most often is that a technician walks up to the beach entry, looks at the shallow end, and treats it like a standard shallow end. They check the returns and the drain in the slope and move on.

The beach entry is its own inspection zone. That long transition area from the deck to the water -- the finish, the joints, the interface at the coping, the deck connection -- all of that has to be treated methodically. The water-level monitoring question is the starting point. If the water holds when the level is below the slope but drops when the slope is submerged, that tells you where to look. That narrows hours of inspection down to the right section of the slope.

The dye testing in very shallow water is genuinely difficult. You are working in two or three inches of water over a textured surface.
