When both systems use an Aquarium sensor, a technician comparing sound quality between the two brands on identical test conditions should expect comparable results from the sensor itself. Performance differences in the field will come from the amplifier circuit, headphone frequency response, cable quality, and how well the technician controls the acoustic environment -- not from one brand's sensor being fundamentally superior.
This means spending more money on one brand's system purely for expected sensor superiority is not well-founded. The investment case for a more expensive system should be built on amplifier quality, accessories, support, or ecosystem fit -- areas where real differences do exist.
Neither LeakTronics nor Anderson tools replace the diagnostic process. A technician still needs to interview the customer, inspect the pool, map the plumbing, isolate circuits, dye test correctly, pressure test correctly, interpret results, and document findings. The brand of tool does not change the 35% acoustic success rate. The other 65% of leaks are found through technique, not through which name is on the amplifier.
Customer history determines where to investigate. The brand of your hydrophone does not affect the quality of your intake questions.
Pool mapping, plumbing layout, and fixture identification are skills -- not tool purchases. Both brands assume you already know what to map.
Plugs, isolation, and pressure testing narrow the diagnosis. Both brands offer tools for this. The plugs and the procedure matter more than the brand.
Dye testing, acoustic listening, and pressure testing all need correct procedure. The Fisher XLT-17 or a LeakTronics amplifier with the same Aquarium sensor -- both work the same way.
Acoustic signals require confirming tests regardless of which brand's sensor found the clue. The hydrophone narrows. The confirming test proves.
