The most common mistake in leak detection training is treating online education and hands-on field training as alternatives rather than a sequence. LBA treats them as two parts of one system - the online tier prepares students, and the bootcamp proves them.
Level One: Foundation Online Training
The first online level covers the language and logic of pool leak detection. Pool construction types, hydraulic system basics, water loss concepts, equipment pad components, skimmer and fitting types, pressure testing theory, dye testing principles, report terminology, and customer communication basics. Students learn to think about a pool as a diagnostic subject before they ever touch equipment.
Level Two: Applied Online Training
The second online level requires demonstrated application. Students complete field-scenario case studies, write sample reports, answer diagnostic logic questions, and demonstrate understanding of the H.U.N.T.E.R. Method before they qualify for hands-on training. This level is the filter - students who pass arrive at bootcamp ready to work, not needing basic vocabulary explained.
The Bootcamp: Where the Map Meets the Field
Students who complete the online certification arrive at hands-on bootcamp already knowing the framework. The field session goes deeper - real equipment, real pool conditions, live pressure testing, dye technique under water, acoustic tool use, report completion for actual findings. The bootcamp becomes the proof that the knowledge works in practice.
